We regularly send to Nanyuki donations of school uniforms, clothes, shoes, stationery and, indeed, anything useful to the children. The British Army allows us to send boxes via BFPO which is greatly appreciated by the children. Caroline and Doreen distribute whatever is sent.

We also provide school fees, wherever possible, to those children who are in desperate need. We cannot, unfortunately, help them all but we can help a few of them. The very first boy we sponsored personally is now a qualified social worker and has a marvellous job with one of the local children’s homes. To see him now, enjoying a wonderful job, giving back to society, and eager to help others less fortunate is so rewarding and gives us so much pride and pleasure.

We visit Nanyuki at least once a year, at our own expense, and no charity funds whatsoever are used for anything but the welfare of the children. Our visits are our “holiday” and we love every minute spent in Nanyuki and have made so many friends there.

We also support several organisations in the town.

JOY HOUSE – which works with the street children by providing them with vocational training. Our charity recently funded a car wash for the street boys, which is now a thriving business.

SIMAMA – founded by Matt Orcutt from the United States – which takes children off the streets, provides them with a loving home and sends them to school.

LIKII SPECIAL SCHOOL – we part funded a hot water system for the children in Likii Special School.

NDURURI PRIMARY SCHOOL – a polytunnel was provided for the school to enable food production for the children at the school. This polytunnel would complement the work carried out at the school by the Royal Air Force Tactical Wing Division. The RAF built a kitchen for the school and also refurbished much of the school by providing new windows, painting classrooms and much more.

LIKII PRIMARY SCHOOL – a polytunnel was provided for the school, also for food production.

NANYUKI CHILDREN’S HOME – two polytunnels were provided at the home for food production.

FOOD – is purchased during our visits for local children’s homes.
