LATEST NEWS FROM NANYUKI 2021

Hi Everyone,

We really hope that everyone has been keeping safe and well in these very unusual times. As we have not been allowed to visit Kenya since October 2019 we wanted to bring you all up to date as to what we has been happening in Nanyuki. Times have been really hard in Kenya during the last 18 months due to the pandemic and we have been assisting as much as we can. Brief details of how our funds have helped during this difficult time are listed below.

Food has been distributed to the extremely under privileged children and families in the town, providing a little much needed relief.

A little boy called Clinton was badly burnt in a house fire that demolished his home and killed his sibling. He has undergone lots of medical procedures and hospitalisation which has, of course, accrued large hospital bills. We have provided some funds to help with this.

School fees have been provided for some children in the town, some of whom attend the Annexe Secondary School. This school provides education for older students eager to learn but have not had the privilege of attending school in their younger lives.

Donations have been made to the Simama Project and the Sangida Foundation. Both these organisations do a remarkable job of caring for and educating the children in their care.

Boxes of shoes and clothing have been sent throughout the year which have been distributed by our friends and colleagues.

Funds have also been provided for the purchase and distribution of sanitary products for the girls in and around Nanyuki. So many of them cannot afford these items and have to stay at home during their monthly period. Provision of these necessary products ensures the girls can continue with their education, no matter the time of the month.

A huge thankyou goes to Caroline Gachoki and Gem Dennis who have been enabling us to continue with our work in Nanyuki by providing the logistical assistance.
